Towy Events looks forward to 2008: click the Calendar link for upcoming events As Wales’ foremost antiques fairs organisers, Towy Antiques Fairs have always looked to the past for inspiration, but now things are set for a change. Rebranded as Towy Events the company is set for expansion into other fields and sees their future in the more topical fields of leisure and lifestyle. With one of Wales’ most adaptable venues, the United Counties Showground, on their doorstep, Towy Events are scheduling The Welsh Caravan, Motorhome and Outdoor Pursuits Show in the spring at the Nantyci site. “We have long been associated with antiques and Antiques Fairs – particularly the Carmarthen Antiques Fair,” says partner Robert Pugh, “but last year we launched The South Wales Homes and Gardens Show and its success has led us to explore other field. “There has long been the room for a large scale motorhome and caravan show in West Wales and Carmarthen’s excellent position - sandwiched between the popular touring regions of Gower and Pembrokeshire - is the obvious spot.” The ever-popular Towy Antiques Fairs will continue to be held four times a year. The Carmarthen Antiques Fair is now in its thirteenth year and is also coming under the microscope. The Towy team is looking at ways to make it even better in 2007, which includes a fresh schedule of dates. The increased workload is being considerably helped by the addition of a new Events Manager on the Towy team. Lois Gibbon, joined Towy a year ago, bringing her extensive experience with the Marriott Hotel Group and, more recently, Antur Teifi and has injected fresh skills and youthful enthusiasm into the Towy plans. “We are really delighted to have Lois on board,” enthuses Carol Pugh, one of Towy Events’ three partners, “not only does she give our events a new perspective, but her ability in Welsh is something that we have long been lacking.” So things look well for Towy Events in the future – but with roots still firmly placed in the past!
